Is There Such a Thing as a No-Commitment Cleaning Trial?

Genuinely free commercial trials are rare, and the reason is arithmetic. A single 6-hour clean of a 5,000 sq ft office costs a vendor roughly $270 in loaded labour alone before equipment, insurance or travel. What actually exists are five different things, and most of them get marketed as a “trial”. Knowing which one you are being offered is the whole point.

The Five Models

ModelWhat it actually isWhat it costs youBest for
Free walkthrough and written proposalA site visit and a scope document. Universally offered.NothingEveryone — and treat any vendor who will not do one as disqualified
Paid one-time trial cleanA single service with no ongoing commitmentOne visit's fee, or a deep-clean feeTesting quality before committing
30-day cancellation window inside a termA 12-month contract you may exit within 30 days without penaltyNothing if you exit in timeWhen you want term pricing with an escape hatch
Month-to-month with 30-day outFunctionally a perpetual trialNormal monthly feeMost buyers — the honest answer
Satisfaction guaranteeRe-clean within 24 hours at no charge, or a stated credit if dissatisfaction is documentedNothingOngoing protection rather than a trial

Why Free Is Rare in Commercial and Common in Residential

A house clean is two hours of one person. A 5,000 sq ft office clean is six or more labour hours, and at loaded labour rates of $44–$46 an hour on union-scale work that is around $270 before the vendor has paid for anything else. Multiply by the number of prospects a vendor walks through in a month and free trials stop being a marketing spend and start being a business model problem. Any vendor offering a genuinely free commercial clean is either very small, very hungry, or planning to recover it elsewhere.

Questions to Ask About Any “Free Trial” Offer

  1. Is it genuinely free, or a discounted first month?
  2. What happens at the end — does it convert automatically?
  3. Is there an auto-enrolment into a term? Check the auto-renewal clause, and check whether New York GOL §5-903 notice applies.
  4. What scope is the trial performed at — the same scope as the ongoing contract, or an enhanced one? An enhanced trial clean tells you nothing about month four.
  5. Who performs it — the crew that would be assigned to you, or a demonstration team?

That last question is the one that matters most, and almost nobody asks it.

Our Terms, Stated Concretely

  • Free walkthrough and a written scope within two business days.
  • A paid one-time deep clean if you want to see the work before committing — with the full amount credited against your first month if you continue.
  • A 30-day initial period, then month-to-month with 30 days' notice either way.
  • No automatic renewal into a fresh annual term. No early termination penalty.
  • Automatic service credit per missed visit with a 24-hour make-up clean.

That is a longer answer than “yes, free trial”, and it is a more useful one.
